Snow Day Homework

Please see snow day homework for all classes

Acorns Class

Reception

  • Draw and label a picture of you playing in the snow. You can write a short sentence if you are feeling ambitious.
  • Practice writing numbers 0-10 (0-20 only if you want to do more).
  • Read a book and talk about your favourite part. Why is it your favourite?

Year 1

  • Draw a picture of you playing in the snow. Describe the picture in a few simple sentences.  Remember to use: capital letters, full stops, adjectives and joining words (and, but, because)
  • Bring some snow back home in a container and observe what happens.  If you have a bowl/ cup full of snow will you have exactly the same amount of water after the snow melted? Or more? Less?  You can measure how long does it take to melt.
  • Read a book and talk about your favourite part. Why is it your favourite?

Saplings Class

Choose one of the following:

  • Write a poem about the snow.
  • Make a word search for a friend to do next week, using words that relate to the snowy weather.
  • Make the most unusual snowflake that you can.

Oaks Class

  • Write a short story (you choose the subject!) of 250 words.  I am looking for really interesting description and interesting action.
  • Maths: look at this link, particularly the sections on multiplying and dividing, and factors, multiples and primes.  Watch the class clips and carry out the exercises
  • Science: keep a record of everything you eat and drink today.  Sort it into the different food groups and make a poster to show me your food groups. (You could add information about how to eat healthily with a balanced diet)

All staff at Wootton wish you a fun day in the snow, keep safe and warm!
